Barrister Bookcase, ca. 1910

A very rare find! This Barrister Bookcase, ca. 1910 has a middle sliding compartment and a draw built into the stand at the bottom.  Most antique barrister bookcases found today are the standard stacking set of boxes with glass panel doors that open up and slide into the top of the box. This unit is still modular, but the middle sliding box and the drawer stand are very rare to find these days.  Barrister Bookcases are one of the most useful and versatile types of storage still available today. Stackable, and with glass doors, they allow items to be displayed but also protected.  This piece measures 74″x 34″x 14″
