Barrister Bookcase ca. 1905. Five shelf units, all with the glass intact and smooth sliders. Simple raised pedestal on the bottom and a top unit. This stacker has a bit of a campaign feel with brass straps on the side. Barrister Bookcases are one of the most useful and versatile types of storage still available today. Stackable, and with glass doors, they allow items to be displayed but also protected. They are the original modular furniture, designed to protect valuable books from the muddy streets of Victorian London while being transported by carriage to an from the courthouse. The whole piece measures 11.5″d x 34″ w x 68.5″ h.
