Two rare Victorian-era lithograph with an original gilt wood frame. These lithograph came from a book of portraits called “The beauties of Moore : a series of portraits of his principal female characters, from paintings by eminent artists, made expressly for the work / engraved by, or under the immediate superintendence of, Mr. Edward Finden”, published in ca. 1846.

Description

Two rare Victorian-era lithograph with an original gilt wood frame. These lithograph came from a book of portraits called “The beauties of Moore : a series of portraits of his principal female characters, from paintings by eminent artists, made expressly for the work / engraved by, or under the immediate superintendence of, Mr. Edward Finden”, published in ca. 1846.  These portraits were based on the works of Irish poet, Sir Thomas Moore. One portrait features the titled character “The High-born Ladye”; the other “Love’s Summer Cloud”. The frames are wood and plaster with gold paint.

Love’s Summer Cloud:

“All the shadow that e’er shall fall o’er thee, Love’s light summer-cloud sweetly shall cast.”

The High-born Ladye:

“The maiden she smiled, and in jewels arrayed her, Of thrones and tiaras already dreamt she”
