J&P Coats “Sheen” Colors Spool Display cabinet, restored.
J&P Coats “Sheen” Colors Spool Cabinet . This antique display cabinet would have sat in a shop or a general store to showcase new brightly coloured spools of thread. This Depression-era case is made of cherry wood and is in excellent condition, and harkens back to a time when items were hand sewn and mended instead of replaced. The cabinet has three drawers; two with restored glass panels. Emblem on the side reads “J&P Coats Machine Twist”. J&P Coats began in the mid 18th century manufacturing coats in Scotland, and were the first company to market cotton thread in 1812. The company expanded to the Americas in the late 19th century, and was one of the largest listed companies in the world by the early 20th century. Click here to read more about J&P Coats.
